Welcome in the New Year at Port Douglas for 2014 with the magnificent fireworks display that erupts in the Coral Sea sky at 8.30pm, (family friendly start time) and at midnight for the traditionalists. Excellent places to view the firework displays are adjacent to The Combined Club at 8.30pm and at Anzac Park on the Port Douglas foreshore at midnight. Or any elevated vista around town will provide you with a grandstand view of the fireworks spectacular.

The eponymous and coincidentally named NAUTILUS RESTAURANT sitting on Island Point Hill have two very special menus available on New Year’s Eve. ‘6pm Seating’ (out by 8pm) with a 4 course NYE Menu priced at $85p.p. Download menu here, or ‘Later Seating’ (7 pm onwards) with a 5 course NYE Tasting menu priced at $135 p.p. (including tea or coffee) Download menu here. Osprey Restaurant at Thala Beach Lodge are offering a choice of two special fusion menus, a FOUR COURSE or SIX COURSE. Click here for the menus. Each menu includes a glass of bubbly on arrival. Four courses – $79 per person. Six courses – $99 per person.
Sassi Cucina e Bar have 2 menus and 2 times for booking. The Early Bird Menu (aka the family session) for 5.30 – 6pm bookings at $65pp. A childrens menu is available for $25. Early Bird diners need to exit by 7.30pm. The main menu at $120pp is available for bookings from 7pm and there is no time limit. Sassi Cucina e Bar is in a prime position for the fireworks, directly opposite Anzac Park.
2Fish offer the best in Australian contemporary seafood cuisine and have a superb menu prepared for New Years Eve. The ‘2Fish’ Seafood Feast is $125 per person, with a children’s menu available at $35 per child. A glass of French ‘Bubbles’ – Veuve D’Ardent – Loire, France is offered on arrival for all guests.
