Port Douglas hosts a fantastic Melbourne cup day. You can dress to the nines or go Port Douglas style in shorts and thongs, either way it’s a great day.
Mick & Sue Managers of Nautilus Holiday Apartments spent the afternoon at the famous Court House Hotel in Macrossan street Port Douglas on the upstairs balcony. There were sweeps , TAB betting , fashions on the field and novelty prizes.
The champagne flowed all afternoon , the betting was at fever pitch and food was abundant.
As usual the ladies outshone the men in the fashion stakes with lots of beautiful outfits including fascinators, very high heels (which reverted to thongs at the end of the day) and stylish dresses .
This was our first Port Douglas Melbourne Cup experience and we would recommend it to future guests of Nautilus Holiday Apartments Port Douglas.
